transplant (n):
1. A plant transplanted from one location to another.
2. An organism moved from one location to another.
3. A person moved/transplanted from one location to another...
Something tells me I'm a transplant, then... For the first time ever I was brought down to the ground, to the level of my food. I guess I shouldn't be offended (I love plants, and eat them exclusively)...
I'm a transplant, and that just means I'm a person who doesn't live in their place of origin, but has moved to a different one where I'm trying to grow roots. Isn't it then just a beautiful metaphor and analogy? Yes, I'm still trying to overcome the harsh conditions and adverse circumstances (like dealing with the immigration, that keeps cutting my roots and water supply, but asks for the fruit...). I'm still an outsider and, if nothing else, my leftover hint of accent betrays my origins. But at the same time, I made my home here. I'm somewhat settled and definitely happy. I keep exploring my new home and I (mostly) love it. I don't travel around a lot (here comes the plant analogy :-)), I enjoy the California Sun (that was exceptionally present this year, or maybe it's [the new] normal?), and yes, I'm yet to bear any fruit. Well, I guess this site is one of the many that will eventually be born :-)
