One frosty morning....

I thought frost was a special and unique occurrence in California. I thought it was going to be extremely rare and needed to be photographed. So I got up exceptionally early (in my book) one day to capture the beauty that was created thanks to this frozen weather event. I was not disappointed.... Juno came along (excited more than usually to be up early for a stroll), posed for a few shots and lead me to explore just a little more....

The golden girl in the white frosty fields.... This morning we took a walk just to be able to capture this somewhat rare occurrence.... It was cold but oh so worth it! The beauty is in the contrast.... Frosty kale. Juno and I both stupefied at this weather event Still life with a water bowl covered with a thick layer of ice broken up by a thirsty doggie after our cold morning walk.... Icy weather! Juno agreed to go frost chasing with me on one condition: that I'll take her for a walk. I was happy she demanded it as we captured some wonderful sights on our way that I would've missed otherwise.... Sometimes you just need to listen to your dog It looks as if powdered sugar got sprinkled all over the leaves

The garden didn't seem to mind the frost either. The oregano, broccoli and kale all survived intact. The lettuce, too! It was later consumed by some invisible snails (which I tried to get before they ate it all, but I was hopeless as I could never see them!), to my frustration and disbelief....

Frost frame on oregano leaves. Such a beautiful creation! Baby broccoli.... Hope it didn't mind the frost.... Still a long way to go till spring! Last weeks' warm weather totally confused it, and so it started growing some flowers.... Looks good with the frost cape, though! The cold winter colors of this still autumnal landscape.... Frost carpet on the green grass which was just getting ready for its annual fall revival Garden art Frost being one of the most unpleasant weather condition must be one of the most beautiful and artistic one, especially in collaboration with pretty plants! Baby onions and lettuce in the garden. It seemed like the lettuce would not have made it through the frost but it did -- somehow! A few more days (cold nights) to go! She smelled it and she said: "Something's wrong with this kale today." Wouldn't she know! Definitely a wintery ambiance.... Fall ensemble with a wintery décor Chasing the frost in the morning.... Oh, I think we caught it, and we're happy to leave it right behind us and get ready for the real winter! Still life with nature While the frost continues to reappear in the mornings, a "classic" capture of it on an innocent maple leaf The worst in behind us now. The official winter hasn't even started yet but we're already done with this cold weather and daily frost. Normalcy will reach us again soon

It also turned out that it was frosty for a few consecutive weeks in the mornings (which I had later witnessed a couple of times), and that it is not as rare as I had previously thought (I guess one misses some facts when sleeping in too much). Nevertheless, it didn't take away from my awe and excitement over this spectacular manifestation of winter.
